L'integrità dei fondali e la bellezza del territorio fanno di Ustica un'isola di grande interesse naturalistico. Le due riserve che la proteggono, l'Area Marina Protetta, istituita nel 1986, e la Riserva Orientata, istituita nel 1997, favoriscono una corretta fruizione dell'isola sopra e sotto il mare.

La riserva marina
Prima in Italia, è divisa in tre zone: una zona A di riserva integrale dove, in alcune aree, è consentita la balneazione, occasione unica per familiarizzare con i pesci che anno imparato a non temere l'uomo; nella zona B è consentita la Fotografia subacquea e la pesca sportiva con lenza da fermo e da traina; nella zona C sono consentite tutte le forme di pesca sportiva tranne la pesca subacquea. Un'esperienza assolutamente unica e originale consiste nel percorrere l'itinerario archeologico subacqueo , il primo nel mondo: ad una profondità tra i 10 e i 25 metri un filo di Arianna guida la visita ai reperti, antiche anfore ed ancore, direttamente nei siti di rinvenimento.

La Riserva Terrestre
Percorsi pedinali segnalati agevolano l'esplorazione dell'Isola. Passeggiare immersi nel verde lungo i sentieri del boschetto è un'esperienza ricca di fascino e mistero. Percorrerei sentieri del litorale, a piedi o con l'asinello, ora ai bordi di un dirupo ora sul dolce declino della lava discesa al mare, raccogliere un fiore di cappero, osservare numerose specie di uccelli migratori, suscita emozioni intense.

The nature reserve

The integrità of the seabeds and the beauty of the territory make Ustica an island of great naturalistic interest. The reserves that protect the island, the Protected Marine Area, established in 1986 and the Nature Reserve set up in 1997 enable the visitor to enjoy the island both over and under the sea.

The first in Italy is divided into three zones: Zone A an integral reserve where swimming is permitted in certain areas and where the visitor can come into direct contact with the fishes tat are no longer afraid man; Zone B where underwater photography, fishing and angling are permitted; Zone C all kind of Fishing are permitted except underwater fishing. Unique and original experience is de very first underwater archeological itinerary in the world, the diver is guided by a rope to the exhibits, to the ancient jars and to the anchors found at a depth of 10 to 25 metres.

The nature reserve
Signposted routes help the visitor explore the island. Strolling amongst the nature of the “boschetto” I san experience full of charm and mystery.
Walking on the coastal routes alongside de bordes of precipite or the gentle slopes of lava towards the sea, to gather a caper flower, observer numerous varirties of migrating bird, arouses intense emotions.
