The island of Ustica, 70 km north of Palermo, is the summit of an inactive underwater volcano 2000 metres high dating back more than a million years. The variety of vulcanites make the island an open aia museum of vulcanology.
The archeological remains are of great historical interest: the impressive Villaggio dei faraglioni with the many huts, fortified by a majestic 250 mt wall with towers, dtes back to the Bronze age
(1450-1250 b.c)

At Falconiere there is a vast Roman Necropolis with graves and underground tonbs; reimans of Roman Farms can be found on the entire island.
