The island of Ustica, 70 km north of Palermo, is the
summit of an inactive underwater volcano 2000 metres
high
dating back more than a million years. The variety of vulcanites make the island an open aia museum of vul canology.
The archeological remains are of great historical
interest: the impressive Villaggio dei faraglioni
with the many huts, fortified by a majestic 250 mt
wall with towers, dtes back to the Bronze age
(1450-1250 b.c)
At Falconiere there is a vast Roman Necropolis with
graves and underground tonbs; reimans of Roman Farms
can be found on the entire island.
