The integrità of the seabeds and the beauty of the territory make Ustica an island of great naturalistic interest. The reserves that protect the island, the Protected Marine Area,
established in 1986 and the Nature Reserve set up in 1997 enable the visitor to enjoy the island both over and under the sea.
The first in
Italy is divided into three zones: Zone A an
integral reserve where swimming is permitted in
certain areas and where the visitor can come into
direct contact with the fishes tat are no longer
afraid man; Zone B where underwater photography,
fishing and angling are permitted; Zone C all kind
of Fishing are permitted except
underwater fishing. Unique and original experience is de very first underwater archeological itinerary in the world, the diver is guided by a rope to the exhibits, to the ancient jars and to the anchors found at a depth of 10 to 25 metres.
La Riserva Terrestre
Signposted routes help the visitor explore the
island. Strolling amongst the nature of the
“boschetto” I san experience full of charm and
mystery.
Walking on the coastal routes alongside de bordes of
precipite or the gentle slopes of lava towards the
sea, to gather a caper flower, observer numerous
varirties of migrating bird, arouses intense
emotions.
